Delta x Peterson Stoop

Since 2013, our studio has been based in Werkgebouw het Veem, a former warehouse from the early 1900s. In the 1980s, squatters claimed the building, eventually purchasing it legally and transforming it into the creative workspace it is today. Now, it houses over 70 studios filled with remarkable artists, designers, and craftspeople. Over the years, we’ve built meaningful connections with many of them, often collaborating on projects like cutting wood or designing graphics. These relationships are a vital part of our practice, as we share advice, support, and expertise with one another.

One day, we were having a conversation with our our upstairs neighbour, Boris Tellegen, also known as Delta. The conversation took an unexpected turn, and we asked if he had any artwork that he wanted to donate to us, so we could cut a pair of shoes from it. To our surprise, he said yes and brought us two large canvases. For years, the artwork stood in our studio, and each time we looked at it, we wondered—why did we ask for this? But recently, we realized we were seeking a new way to express ourselves.

Art work by Boris Tellegen, cut out and shoes by Peterson Stoop.

We eventually cut shoes from the canvas, finding meaning in the gaps left behind. The shoes became a vehicle for storytelling. While cutting into a piece of art felt somewhat brutal, it also resonated with us on a deeper level. We are excited to see where this path will lead.
